As we began our AYGB product discovery journey, one of the first items on our list was a beautiful artisan soap - something natural, luxurious, and with a meaningful story.
That’s when we discovered Favoured, creators of handcrafted, eco-friendly soaps made over 840km east of mainland New Zealand on the remote and rugged Chatham Islands.
Handmade Natural Soap from the Chatham Islands
Founder Alyssa Albert turned a personal hobby into a thriving small business after relocating from Motueka to the Chatham Islands. Inspired by her surroundings, Alyssa hand-forages many of her ingredients directly from the local environment.
These include:
- Sea kelp
- Kawakawa
- Chatham Islands black sand (a natural exfoliant)
Each bar is carefully handmade using 100% natural ingredients, making Favoured a truly unique artisan soap brand in New Zealand.
